Academic Background

For more than two decades, I have studied, researched, taught and worked in communications and information science. My areas of expertise are social media and cyber-psychology, including the impact of social media on identity and wellbeing.

My research examined social media as a form of surveillance and its impact on self-presentation behaviors. My dissertation study, "Cancel Culture in Academia," was the first to explore how perceptions of social media influence the speech and teaching practices of college faculty.
